Descrizione
Con poco più di 4 metri di lunghezza, era un ittiosauro di medie dimensioni. Aveva un ventre grassoccio, una testa a punta, due enormi occhi e una mascella con cento denti; questo rettile marino viveva in un mare caldo e poco profondo.
Diffusione
Genere di rettile marino del medio Giurassico circa 170 milioni di anni fa, noto dai resti fossili trovati sull'isola di Skye in Scozia. I resti fossili frammentari dell'animale sono stati scoperti da un cacciatore dilettante di fossili nel 1959 e successivamente donati a un museo, ma fu solo nel 2014 che un progetto di ricerca scientifica ha determinato che i fossili erano di una specie precedentemente sconosciuta.
